Baxter is too comfortable
By Malose Wa Ga Lamola
I don't have any reason to show any sympathy to the mediocre Bafana Bafana.
The only thing I am pity of- is this keyboard- I might have to see 'My friend'- a Pakistan national guy at my street corner to fix it after crashing all the keys of my PC.
Like a guy who has been dumped by a girl of his dreams- my heart bleeds- everytime I think of the overrated Bafana Bafana. Bafana has failed to live up to their billing yet again. Stuart Baxter's men were hosted to a dull draw by Libya in front of their home supporters. Libya was a better side of the day and created more chances than Bafana Bafana.
Going into the half time break with only one shot on target was adequate to prove that Bafana was under performing. After failing so dismally to qualify for the 2018 Fifa World Cup finals- the least Bafana can offer us- is to qualify for the 2019 Afcon finals.
Amid their Saturday's performance- I don't see- this mediocre qualifying for any major tournament. Of the past five Afcon finals, Bafana Bafana, has failed to qualify for a better three of those.
Football is a sport of opinions and Stuart Baxter must familiarise himself with this concept. Not everybody is going to criticise or applaud you for everything that you do. Your job is to take Bafana Bafana to the next level.
Leave the talking to football commentators and fans. Baxter's predecessor- Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba- learned the hard way that picking fights with the media is a poison that you shouldn't taste with your tongue.
Standing for his prayers is one trade that I like about Baxter but calling us 'football lunatics' is a recipe for disaster. Dean Furman's performance and inclusion in the national set up was under the spot light.
Yes; Dean performed far better than his teammates but that doesn't spare him from criticism. Even the same diamond looks different from different angles.
Firstly Baxter called up Lee Baxter (his son) and claimed he is the best goalie trainer in the country by far. But I don't buy his sentiments. Lee is training Kaizer Chiefs glove men and we all know- Chiefs shot stoppers have been leaking goals lately. Disrespecting all the goalkeeper trainers in the country.
Fresh from a draw that left a bitter taste in most of the football lovers. Baxter tactical approach was again questioned. Amid poor display by Bafana- I found it very difficult- to understand Baxter's miscreant.
How on earth can Baxter question South Africans despondency on Bafana Bafana?
