Maritzburg can cheat the law of gravity
By Malose Wa Ga Lamola
Maritzburg United's Premier Soccer League (PSL) status is hanging by a threat- but still has a chance to maintain it- and survive automatic chop to the National First Division.
The Eric Tinkler mentored side- is sitting uncormfortably at the basement- of the log standings. Based on the performances Maritzburg has been ditching out, one wouldn't dare write their chances of cheating Dr Newton's law of gravity out.
Certainly it was not the Team of Choice's choice to lead the race to the NFD. At this stage of the season- the picture shouldn't be as blur at the top and the bottom. With the gap between teams at the bottom so narrow- everything is still possible. The former Cape Town City coach- comes with a master plan to see off his opposite number but he needs his charges to execute it on the field.
With Fortune Makaringe- pulling the strings in the middle of the park- to ease the work for a much celebrated Allan Kateregga- Maritzburg is in good hands. The latter has been in fine form and has won Maritzburg valuable points. The Team of Choice has to be a bit lighter to defy gravity. Because the heavier you are- the more easier you become to pull down. It is more of a cliché that every point counts at this stage of the season but this old adage is more than a reality to Maritzburg. Losing points now will do more damage to the relegation threatened side than good.
Science dictates that what goes up must come down. Tinkler can steady this visibly sinking ship. The Team of choice has no choice but to gladiates up the log standings- to force other relegation threatened teams below them.
Maritzburg can cheat the law of gravity.
