Kubheka: Senong Has What It Takes

The outbreak of Covid-19 has brought the entire world to its knees. What a perfect spot to pray. Survival has become the order of the day, where even the fittest stands no chance but the most adaptable. To survive, one needs to invent new ways to adapt.
Though football is suspended indefinitely footballers have to remain active and be ready for when the season resumes. Fitness is a top priority in every spotting quote. To be on top of your game, one needs to be both physically and mentally fit. For oxygen to navigates its way to the brain, one needs to remain active even behind closed doors.
In an Exclusive interview with ShakingInk, Mamelolodi Sundowns Reserve side goalkeeper, Khulekani Kubheka says he has drawn his personal training schedule to keep fit during national lockdown.
"I just have my own (training program) that I follow to help myself stay active and stay fit, I also try to eat well so I don't get out of shape." Said Kubheka.
Competition for spots in the starting line up at a star studded Sundowns proves to be a bit tough and The Brazilians usually loan out their development graduates to get game time elsewhere. Khule as Khubheka is affectionately known is no exception.

Former Amajimbos skipper had a stint with the Glad Africa Championship outfit, Cape Umoya United, on loan from the reigning Absa Premiership Champions. Denis Onyango is trusted to guard the goal posts, With Kennedy Mweene, Reyaard Pieterse and Abram Nqcobo waiting on the side lines for their chance, Kubheka can only watch and learn.
"I think it's more about just enjoying what you are doing and always be willing to learn from each other and from your own strengths as you discover more of them each day."
Having turned out for South Africa at junior levels, Kubheka, has worked with Thabo Senong and is confident, the former Amajita mentor can crack it with Lesotho. Senong led South Africa to two Under-20 World Cups before appointed Likuena manager in August 2019.

The Pimville born mentor came at the heels of Moses Maliehe, who has been battling with illness and left due to the problems. Prior to his appointment as the coach, Leslie Notsi, took the reins on temporary basis in the absence of Maliehe.
Though Senong has found the going tough in Lesotho with one victory from six outings, Kubheka remains optimistic his former mentor can change Likuena fortunes. "I definitely think and know he will crack it there, he is a great coach and always willing to learn to better himself in coaching and to better his players."
Playing a father figure role has become one of the most critical aspects of a coach. Senong goes an extra mile to ensure his players are well even off the field.
"He is a very humble person who also takes care of the emotions of his players. When players love and are willing to learn from you as a coach they will play their hearts out for you in return." added Kubheka.
"He will do great and from the bottom of my heart I wish him all the very best in all his future endeavors" Kubheka concluded.
